Why not give your wife, girlfriend, daughter, mother, or other significant lady in your life a ladies automatic watch this year? Sure, there are lots of regular battery-powered women’s watches out there, and trust me, you’ll see them just everywhere pretty soon now that it’s getting near to Christmas.

Don’t believe me? Walk into any mall and you’ll find kiosks set up with bargain-priced analog watches galore. Then step into one of the department stores and you’ll probably see loads of watches on sale both at the counters and in the middle of the aisles.

Most of these, especially the ones in the aisles, are cheap discount watches of some off-brand. Does that mean they don’t work well? No, not really, some of them probably work just fine. As a matter of fact, you can probably go into K-Mart or Walmart and pick up a watch for 20 bucks that will work beautifully.

But I don’t know about the ladies in your family, but I personally don’t like cheap watches. Not because they don’t work, but I just prefer the quality craftsmanship and the history that go into the better watches.

I also don’t prefer battery watches. They may actually keep better time in some cases, depending on which automatic watch you are comparing to (as well as many other factors), but I just enjoy the artistry of the mechanical watches. I would say, though, that the majority of women probably would be just as happy with a watch that runs on a battery. Then again, I have lots of clocks that have to be wound, so that’s just my taste.

At any rate, there are plenty of ladies automatic watch choices if you choose to go that route. Instead of going to the department stores, though, you may need to go to a jewelry or watch store. If you would like to get something like a Rolex, and you want to save a little money, you can go to a watch store and see if they have some gently used Rolexes. They often do. Just think how excited your daughter (or wife, mom, etc) will be when she opens a gift box containing a Rolex watch. Priceless! Keep your camera ready for that reaction.

But you don’t have to buy a Rolex. There are many other women’s automatic watches on the market. Shop around. It’s getting toward Christmas so I bet you can find some super deals.
